Detoxification

Detox Step 4: Hydration

Adequate hydration is necessary for effective detoxification. Our bodies are 60% water and waste can get stuck if it can’t flow. Chronic dehydrated patients are more likely to have chronic inflammatory illnesses and are slow to improve.

Lifestyle and Diet Tools Avoid dehydrating drinks (coffee, soda, alcohol, hot cocoa, sweet teas, lemonade, sports drinks with sugar and dyes), increase fluid intake, electrolytes (Na, K, Cl)
Nutritional Support Tools Endure drops or Body Bio electrolytes
Herbal Tools None
Nutraceutical Tools IV fluids
Drainage Remedies Dalektro N, Renelix drops from Pekana

Hydration Detox in Detail

Chronic dehydrated patients are more likely to have chronic inflammatory illnesses and are slow to improve. There are multiple factors controlling how our bodies process fluids. Having the proper fluid balance between inside and the outside of our cells is crucial for our health.

Chronic dehydration problems can involve any combination of factors such as absorption of fluids in the gut and possible loss of fluids from diarrhea. Antidiuretic hormone from the pituitary regulates the kidneys ability to recycle fluids when needed or let go of excessive fluid, and to a lesser degree aldosterone from the adrenal gland. Minerals are the messengers that move fluid in and out of cell membranes balancing intracellular and extracellular fluid in the body.

Health problems that can have an underlying hydration component: poor memory, weakened immunity, digestive disturbances, weight gain, joint pain, poor temperature deregulation, kidney stone prevention, poor recovery time after exercise or injury, increased headaches.

1. Lifestyle and Dietary Tools

  • Water is hands down the most effective hydrator and coconut water, caffeine free teas, sports drinks with electrolytes. General rule of thumb for how much is enough could be ⅓ of your body weight in ounces.

  • Avoid these drinks that do not help hydration: coffee, beer, wine and other alcoholic beverages, soda, hot cocoa, sweet teas, lemonade, and sports drinks with sugar and dyes.

  • Avoid using single serving soft plastic bottles.

2. Nutritional Support Tools

Electrolytes powder or drops to add to water to enhance mineral balances like Endure drops or Body Bio electrolytes. Most important electrolytes are sodium, potassium, and chloride.

3. Herbal Tools

None

4. Nutraceutical Tools

IV fluids can be helpful for patients that run chronically dehydrated.

5. Drainage Remedies

  • Renelix drops (Pekana) tonifies the kidney to help recycle your fluids

  • Dalektro N drops (Pekana) for mineral supplementation

6. Glandular Therapies

Cytozyme PT/HPT (Biotics) supports the pituitary and hypothalamus.

7. Oxidative Support Tools

  • Liposomal glutathione

  • Healing 360 Antioxidant Supplemental Formula

  • Antioxidant berries: Goji, pomegranate, and acai

8. Detox Tools (Extra Credit)

Reverse osmosis water filtration and/or structured water filter system that removes toxic material and pathogenic organisms from our water. Some units can increase the alkalinity of the water.

These will be covered in an upcoming document on how and why each of these can be helpful for hydration and detoxification.

9. Genetic Support

Specific treatments dependent upon genetic profile.
